On Tuesday 14th November, one Media Studies GCSE class has the fantastic opportunity to spend a day with digital media professionals as part of BIMA Digital Day 2017. We were lucky to have Will and Mia from Golin, a digital media agency with clients such as McDonalds, Unilever, Tesco and even Manchester United. Will and Mia spoke about life within the new digital media industry, about opportunities in working in digital media, ways to get into the industry, what day-to-day life is like and the range of different jobs that exist. It really did show the Media students there are many careers to consider in the industry if they are interested. After an informative session, students took up the challenge to create their own digital product in the form of "wearable technology". The girls came up with some fantastic ideas they then pitched in front of our guests, from jackets fitted with GPS trackers and thermo-regulating jumpers, to dresses with in-built social media notifications. It was an informative, creative and insightful day for all. Thank you to Golin and @BIMADDay for making the day possible.
