Policies
Behaviour Policy
At EGA we aim to create an environment where everyone can learn and achieve.
Our school Code of Behaviour is framed in the 5 Rs
1. Rights
We all have the right to learn and work in a safe environment and to be treated fairly
2. Responsibilities
We are all responsible for supporting the rights of others and ourselves
3. Rules
We have rules to support our right to learn and work in a safe environment
4. Rewards
We have rewards to celebrate making the right choices and our successes
5. Repercussions (or consequences)
We have repercussions to help us to take responsibility for our mistakes and make the right choices in future. These are often positive, for example: resolving a disagreement with a teacher or student at the first opportunity.
Code of Conduct
1. Showing respect to ALL members of the school community and the school environment
2. Speaking politely and quietly to everyone and carrying out requests given by staff
3. Promoting a positive atmosphere for learning and being on time for registration and lessons
4. Wearing school uniform at all times and bringing the equipment you need for the school day
5. Always giving your best
Encouraging good Behaviour
We encourage good behaviour by:
a fair and consistent approach
finding opportunities to praise and reward
having high expectations of behaviour both in and out of the classroom
aiming to repair and resolve conflict quickly
Where students’ behaviour is unacceptable, a range of sanctions may be used depending on the particular situation. These might include:
a quiet word with the student
changing the seating arrangements
being sent out of the classroom
being placed on report
loss of break or lunchtime detention
expecting the student to resolve the situation
Unacceptable Behaviour
All behaviour which disrupts the learning of others or which threatens the safety of any member of the school community is unacceptable. Infringing the routines regarding uniform, equipment, attendance and punctuality is also a form of unacceptable behaviour as is damage to the environment of the school and local area.
In very serious cases we may exclude pupils for a fixed time.
In extreme cases, a pupil could face permanent exclusion.
Possession of a weapon of any kind is likely to result in permanent exclusion from school.
We aim to keep parents informed of any incidents of misbehaviour.
Please encourage your child to follow the school’s code of conduct. By working together we can ensure that small concerns do not become major problems.
