Year 7

Students follow the Computing National Curriculum.
Theory: Binary numbers, characters and images. Simple binary addition.
Practical: Introduction to Python programming.
Assessment: Short in-class test

Computer Science 2 subjects

Year 8

Students follow the Computing National Curriculum.
Theory: Binary sound. Binary Addition (review). CPU and RAM. A selection of basic sorting and searching algorithms in computing. Logic Gates in circuits.
Practical: Python programming (Beginner / Intermediate). Physical Computing.
Assessment: Short in-class test

Year 9 – 11 (Options)

Students can choose Computer Science GCSE 9 - 1 as an option subject.
Exam Board: Edexcel (exam 1: 40%, exam 2: 40%, controlled assessment coding project: 20%)

Topic 4 Computers
Topic 5 Communication and the Internet
Topic 6 The Bigger Picture
Students will use a textbook, supplementary class notes and access more resources in Google Classroom.
Practical: Project style controlled assessment where students have to solve a set problem applying their computational and programming (Intermediate / Advanced) skills.
