Year 10 Medical Careers Trip
On Friday 1 March, a few of my classmates and I were selected to take part in a medical careers trip at The Worshipful Company Of Barbers. During our time, we had the opportunity to speak to a diverse range of doctors, who specialised in different areas of the medical industry. These included psychiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists and aspiring paediatricians. I really enjoyed listening to what each doctor liked and disliked about their profession. My favourite part was using the medical equipment that the doctors brought in and showed us.
Here's what my classmates thought about the trip:
“I liked listening to the doctors and how unique and diverse the jobs were, and how these doctors were able to balance their social life with their working life.” - Vivien
“It rendered a clearer idea of what medical field I might choose to do in the future. I learnt that the most important thing is that you must enjoy the career you do.” - Alexia
“I learnt useful information about how to get into medical school, and I also learnt that I must understand which subjects I do and don’t like to help me choose which career is fit for me.” - Veronica
“I got a better understanding of how to achieve the career I want and the path to get there.” - Aaliyah A.
“I learnt so much more about medicine, and what I want to do in the future.” - Sylvia
“I loved seeing how proud every doctor was, and how they do not regret their efforts.” - Shahreen
