League Winners

Congratulations to the year 7 team who dominated in their final performance in the Islington schools league, finishing 1st place after 4 weeks and not losing a single match. I would like to mention some stand out performances from our captain Elsie who was the team's top goal scorer, scoring some outstanding goals. Bakita and Mehana were also an incredible support in the midfield, scoring and assisting goals. A massive well done to the defence with excellent leadership from Daisy and Chiamaka, only conceding 1 goal across the 4 weeks.

Identity Week

The unique thing about our school is its wide diversity and Identity Week, ending with a non-school uniform day on Friday, reminds every staff and pupil how special they are. Identity Week has been an important part of the EGA calendar for a few years and each year, we aim to teach everyone about a different aspect of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Our theme this year was 'Who Am I?' where student leaders led assemblies and a Thought For The Week to discuss the importance of acceptance and allyship, understanding intersectionality and recognising that humans are wonderful and complex. This year Identity Week also supports ActionAid, a charity working to end violence and fighting poverty so that all women and girls, everywhere, can create the future they want. We Raised £309.77

EGA in the news...........

Elizabeth Garrett Anderson headteacher Sarah Beagley and students on International Women’s Day A FORMER First Lady of the United States has been heaping praise on a secondary school that has been rated as “Outstanding”. Michelle Obama said that she wanted to congratulate all the students, teachers, and staff at Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in Angel for their “incredible achievement”. She added: “My time with the girls at EGA was a transformative experience for me as First Lady, and I think about it often. It means the world to know just how much the students are thriving.” The Harvard-educated lawyer first visited the school in 2009 when she spoke about the power of sisterhood. At the time, she told pupils: “I am an example of what is possible when girls from the very beginning of their lives are loved and nurtured by people around them. “I was surrounded by extraordinary women in my life who taught me about quiet strength and dignity”.
