Student Leadership

Student Council and Student Leadership 2025–26

At EGA, student voice is at the heart of our school community. Through Student Council and Student Leadership, students are given meaningful opportunities to contribute to school life, develop confidence and take on responsibility.

Student Council (Years 7–10)

Student Council enables students in Years 7–10 to represent their peers and help shape the school experience. Each year group elects two representatives from every form, who work together to:

  • Share student ideas, feedback and concerns with Heads of Year

  • Support and organise charity events and school activities

  • Contribute to projects that improve the school environment

  • Develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills

In Year 11, students take on senior leadership roles, acting as role models across the school. Positions include Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl and Prefects.

Student leaders:

  • Mentor and support younger students

  • Lead assemblies and whole-school initiatives

  • Organise key events, including Year 11 Graduation & prom

  • Represent the school within the wider community

Together, Student Council and Student Leadership ensure that student voice plays an active role in shaping life at EGA. Alongside these roles, students can also serve as Diversity Ambassadors, Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and Sports Leaders, helping to promote inclusion, wellbeing and leadership across all areas of school life.

Head Girl Statement

When I first joined EGA, 11 year old me standing at those gates, fearing for what would come in the next 5 years, would never expect me to be where I am now. Coming to the end of those 5 years, it is safe to say that any apprehension I once felt disappeared far sooner than I expected.

At the start I was a quiet diffident girl who capped herself to what she solely believed she could do, but EGA has since taught me to aim without limits, bringing me confidence and conviction and many opportunities for the near future. From Year 7 to now, our school has consistently encouraged the very best in all of us - kindness, ambition, resilience and integrity. It is a place where we are challenged to achieve highly, but equally supported to grow into strong, compassionate young women. Something I strive to uphold as Head Girl.

Being Head Girl isn't about being perfect, it's about having the courage to speak up, the humility to listen, and the energy to make change happen. I don't just want to lead; I want to unlock leadership in every single student. Imagine a school where the quietest girl feels as confident to share her thoughts as the loudest one. Imagine a school where success isn't measured only by grades, but by the risks we take and the mistakes we make, the friendships we build and the confidence we gain. We are a family at this school, sisters, and I want us to shape it together.

As an all-girls school, we are part of something incredibly powerful. We learn in an environment where female leadership is normal, where ambition is encouraged, and where we are constantly reminded that our voices matter. We are future scientists, artists, doctors, entrepreneurs and leaders. We are taught not to shrink ourselves to fit expectations, but to grow beyond them. There is something truly special about being surrounded by young women who challenge and inspire one another every day.

I am so proud to say that I am a student at EGA.

Attendance and Conduct Week

This week at EGA, we have been proud to celebrate our first Celebration Week as part of the exciting re-launch of our whole-school rewards system and what a brilliant launch it has been!   Our new rewards system links Achievement Points directly to prizes, giving students clear goals to work towards. As students collect points, they move through our reward thresholds: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, unlocking fantastic tuck shop prizes along the way.   The tuck shop has already been a hive of excitement, with students eagerly collecting rewards including: Beauty products Revision materials & stationery Snacks from the canteen Vouchers And even the ultimate prize: “Skip the lunch queue with a friend for the rest of the year!”   It has been wonderful to see so many students motivated, proud and excited to pick up their prizes.   Students can earn Achievement Points in a variety of ways: Demonstrating effort and ambition in lessons Consistently positive conduct Improving their attendance Achieving excellent attendance milestones   As we approach half term, we would like to encourage families to continue positive conversations at home about the importance of both attendance and conduct. Our rewards system resets each term, giving every student a fresh opportunity to achieve, improve and aim even higher.   Thank you for your continued support in helping us celebrate effort, ambition and excellence at EGA. We are so proud of the way our students have embraced the re-launch long may the excitement continue!
