Islington Refugee and Migrant Centre Update

On Monday 19 November students from GCSE Geography, Citizenship and RE classes were invited to hear a talk by Katie Commons from the Islington Refugee and Migrant Centre. She spoke movingly about the increasing hardships  faced by people who arrive here in the UK seeking safety from torture or persecution in their own countries. Afterwards,  students  presented Katie with the monies raised by the EGA community staff 10km run.

The £611.37 we raised will go towards providing English classes, food, clothing and toiletries for those who are destitute. The students who attended are keen to continue to  raise more money for the charity and to donate food and clothing in time for Christmas.

Many thanks to Katie for coming in to explain exactly how the money will help, to those who ran and to all those who donated.
