Posted on: 13/02/2019Islington Borough Trampolining CompetitionThree KS4 students competed in the Islington Borough Trampolining Competition. Although nervous, the girls competed at a very high standard and were very professional throughout. Overall, EGA came 1st place in the competition- a fantastic result from our girls. As well as placing 1st, Mia Yanez-Gonzalez De Bulnes (Year 11) also won best overall performer. Well done Mia, Leticia Sandoval-Solomon and Shani Warwick.
Posted on: 6/02/2019Year 8 Indoor Athletics CompetitionOn Wednesday 6 February, 9 Year 8 students represented EGA and took part in an indoor athletics competition at St. Aloysius School. They took part in running events and field events such as long jump, triple jump, vertical jump, shot put and speed bounce. They were up against St Mary Magdalene Academy, City of London Academy Highbury Grove and Holloway School Yuki won her 6 lap race, Angel was joint first at the shot put and Nergis won the speed bounce. We are awaiting the final results. Congratulations to them all for demonstrating determination, commitment, dedication and resilience. Posted on: 5/02/2019Debate Mate Victory!Seven members of the Debate Mate team attended and won their first debate at Highbury Grove School last Thursday. Nafisa Firdous, Abeedah Uddin, Grace Wenban-Williams and Nasima Begum were on the panel as the opposition for the motion: 'Digital media is a hindrance to a society's progress'. They were well supported by the rest of their team: Jasmine Osman, Rania Hamasaleh and Helin Bulbul who posed pertinent questions to the Highbury Grove team, successfully picking holes in their argument. Well done ladies and good luck for the next round in March!
Posted on: 1/02/2019Geography Field TripOn Monday 28 January and Friday 1 February, 137 Geography GCSE students attended a field trip to Stratford. They conducted surveys and questionnaires with the public about the regeneration of the area, including the building of Olympic Park and Westfield shopping centre. Speaking to the public was done very confidently - well done to Yusra Suleiman for approaching 4 different people single-handedly! We finished off the day with a game of bowling, with a special mention to Ndey Grant who beat off fierce competition, getting more than one strike!
Posted on: 30/01/2019Islington Borough Netball TournamentThe Year 7 netball team played their first round in the Islington Borough Netball Tournament. All students played exceptionally well and managed to win all three of their games facing AMSI, Highbury fields and St Mary Magdalene Academy. The team still have two more rounds left in the tournament on Thursday 31st January and Thursday 14th February, please wish them luck! Netball team: Dominik, Iris, Ellis, Hannah, Ruby, Paris, Alexandria, Basak and Randa.
Posted on: 22/01/2019Central London 3 v 3 Basketball CompetitionOn Tuesday 22 January, five students represented EGA at the 3 v 3 basketball competition at Battersea Sports Centre. They were out all day and turned out to be the only girls team, therefore they had to play against boys. They were up against Garrett Park, Southfields, St. Marylebone and Nightingale. They managed to score in the first two games, Anaya being the scorer. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and demonstrated a high level of commitment and resilience. Congratulations to Anaya Claire Grant in Year 7, Meleat Daniel and Cidni Tisdal in Year 8, Keira Curry and Gulten Kurban in Year 9. They were all rewarded with a certificate and a merit for representing the school.
