Posted on: 16/01/2020Charity Staff V Student BenchballTo help raise money for the homeless charity Crisis the PE department held a staff vs students benchball tournament. The tournament was very competitive with neither staff or students wanting to lose. However, despite students’ best efforts the staff remained undefeated throughout the tournament, although the games against Year 11 came very close to a student win. A huge thank you to everyone that came to participate, we were able to raise a total of £165. All money will now be sent to Crisis to help support the homeless.

Posted on: 21/11/2019FundraisingLast Saturday, EGA staff once again took to London's parks to run 10km for charity - this time to raise money for Cancer Research. Runners at Victoria Park were Mr Clifford, Mr Taylor, Mr Evans, Mr Mourier and myself! Although our numbers were down on last year, they all beat their personal best times with the main award going to Mr Clifford who came first in his age category (not telling which one!) If you would like to donate, please do so at the school reception. We will be fundraising at school with a non uniform day on Thursday. Thanks to Ms Dahl for cheering us on !
Posted on: 12/06/2019Refugee WeekTo celebrate the contribution that refugees have made to this country and globally, we will have our annual Non Uniform Day on Friday 21st June. The theme of Refugee Week 2019 is, 'You, me, and those who came before', an invitation to explore the lives of refugees - and those who have welcomed them - throughout the generations. Read more about this year's theme here. Remember to bring your pound or more so we can raise as much as possible for this worthy cause and many thanks!
Posted on: 15/03/2019Red Nose Day Benchball Staff V StudentsThe PE department had the bright idea of raising money for Comic Relief by bringing together staff and students to enjoy a benchball competition during their lunch break. On Tuesday 12 March, staff were up against Years 7 & 8. At least 50 students took part in teams of 10 - 12, challenging 12 members of staff and there were another 75 or so spectating. Much fun was had by everyone and we managed to raise £63. On Wednesday 13 March, the staff team were yet again on top form challenging around 60 students in Years 9 & 10 and again in teams of 10 - 12. The students managed to win 1 game out of 6, so well done. It was also lovely to see other year groups supporting the event and contributing 50p for a good cause. For this game £66 was raised but I must mention Balkis Direnis in A4 AHU who kindly donated £10. On Thursday 14, Year 11 gave us a run for our money. We played 5 games and the score was 3 - 2 to the teachers and we raised £69. Again, there were a lot of supporters which was good to see. The PE department would like to thank all staff and students who took part in the event either playing or spectating. The total money raised was £200. For the full photo album, click here!
Posted on: 10/01/2019Christmas Carol SingingOn Tuesday 18 December, we went to the N1 centre to sing Christmas carols to raise money for the charity called Haven Children’s Hospice. We raised £356.23. It was fun to see how everyone was enjoying themselves and the amount of people that stopped and watched us perform and gave money. It was quite tiring standing in the cold for a long time singing but it was still fun to do. Hopefully we’ll raise more money this year and beat our target. Samira Kamana - Year 8
