Posted on: 27/02/2019Art of the WeekThis week we have a piece of art with a message about pollution by Sofia Rahi-Bungish in Year 8. In art we feel it is important to discuss and create art around social and political themes to give pupils a chance to explore issues affecting them. Well done Sofia!

Although nervous, the girls competed at a very high standard and were very professional throughout. Overall, EGA came 1st place in the competition- a fantastic result from our girls. As well as placing 1st, Mia Yanez-Gonzalez De Bulnes (Year 11) also won best overall performer. Well done Mia, Leticia Sandoval-Solomon and Shani Warwick.
Posted on: 7/02/2019Harry Potter NightHundreds of candles hung from the ceiling, letters to 'Privet drive' were scattered around the place, a magical sorting hat was placed upon a table: thanks to Charlie, Ms Cheetham, Ms Singh, Ms Gately and Ms Gibson-Faux, our EGA library transformed into Hogwarts for a night. We were gleefully sorted into houses, using the sorting hat and took part in making a fantastical creature for our house, gaining house points throughout. We had a mega quiz, where all Harry Potter fans could share their knowledge, the excitement in the atmosphere building as Ravenclaw were revealed the winners of this amazing night. Everyone involved had a fantastic time and would recommend for any Harry Potter fans to come and take part next year. By Annachiara and Jasmine, Year 7
Posted on: 6/02/2019Woman in BlackOn Wednesday, both drama GCSE classes were given the great opportunity to go and see the Woman In Black as part of their exam preparation. We all immensely enjoyed the performance and loved all the hidden jump scares. The horror element to it was very exciting and not found in a lot of theatre, therefore a new and thrilling experience. We admired how a two man show was so captivating whilst having such a minimalistic set. We look forward to writing a review on this performance in our upcoming exam. By Amanda, Ilaria & Jeta, Year 9

Posted on: 5/02/2019Debate Mate Victory!Seven members of the Debate Mate team attended and won their first debate at Highbury Grove School last Thursday. Nafisa Firdous, Abeedah Uddin, Grace Wenban-Williams and Nasima Begum were on the panel as the opposition for the motion: 'Digital media is a hindrance to a society's progress'. They were well supported by the rest of their team: Jasmine Osman, Rania Hamasaleh and Helin Bulbul who posed pertinent questions to the Highbury Grove team, successfully picking holes in their argument. Well done ladies and good luck for the next round in March!
Posted on: 1/02/2019Geography Field TripOn Monday 28 January and Friday 1 February, 137 Geography GCSE students attended a field trip to Stratford. They conducted surveys and questionnaires with the public about the regeneration of the area, including the building of Olympic Park and Westfield shopping centre. Speaking to the public was done very confidently - well done to Yusra Suleiman for approaching 4 different people single-handedly! We finished off the day with a game of bowling, with a special mention to Ndey Grant who beat off fierce competition, getting more than one strike!
