This year, the Black History Month assembly celebrated diversity, culture and belonging through a range of performances. This year's theme Standing Firm in Power and Pride was explored through the achievements of two key Black women - Madam C.J Walker and Kitty Black Perkins - for the barriers they broke in their respective industries (haircare and dolls). The assembly was filled with creative performances from a Year 10 poetry performance, Year 11 dancers and finally to the choir, who sang a medley of iconic songs by Black female artists ranging from Chaka Khan to Rhianna. We hope the Black History Month assembly was inspiring to all and thank you for all your support and participation! - The Student Equalities Team
