The tuck shop has already been a hive of excitement, with students eagerly collecting rewards including: Beauty products Revision materials & stationery Snacks from the canteen Vouchers And even the ultimate prize: “Skip the lunch queue with a friend for the rest of the year!” It has been wonderful to see so many students motivated, proud and excited to pick up their prizes. Posted on: 21/01/2026Year 7 Vaping AssemblyThis week, our Year 7 students took part in an important and informative assembly delivered by NHS professionals, focusing on the growing epidemic of vaping among young people. The assembly helped students understand what vaping is, why it is harmful, and how marketing tactics, such as colourful packaging, appealing flavours, and social media influence, are often used to make vaping seem harmless and attractive. Students were encouraged to think critically about peer pressure and the long-term impact vaping can have on their health and wellbeing. We recognise the vital role parents and carers play in supporting young people and preventing vaping, and we are committed to working together to keep our community informed and safe. Support for parents and carers Young people can be particularly vulnerable to vaping due to flavours, trends, and peer influence. Parents and carers are encouraged to: Talk openly and calmly with your child about vaping and its risks. Be aware of how flavours, packaging, and social media can make vaping appealing. Encourage your child to ask questions and reassure them they can come to you if they feel pressured. Look out for changes in behaviour or unfamiliar devices, and seek advice early if you have concerns. Posted on: 27/11/2025EGA Hosts Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge Regional Final!Last Thursday evening, EGA was thrilled to host the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge Regional Final, a truly inspiring event that filled our Lecture Theatre with passion and powerful voices! Year 10 students from schools across Islington took to the stage, sharing their perspectives on topics they felt strongly about. It was an incredibly positive evening, giving these young people a platform to articulate their opinions and engage their audience. A huge well done to our fantastic EGA speakers, Yasmine (who came in an honorable third!), Sofia, and Zahra, who delivered passionate and compelling speeches. They represented our school brilliantly! The event's success was also thanks to our wonderful volunteers and performers; Year 11 Student Volunteers for your hard work and dedication, ensuring the evening ran smoothly and professionally and special shout-out to our musical performers Heja and Selina, who captivated the audience with their beautifully performed songs. It was a brilliant celebration of confidence, communication, and community. Congratulations to all who took part!
